Rants

I genuinely can't stand people who are overly politically correct in fandom spaces as if it makes them morally superior. had a cheerful discussion with some anti-shippers in an instagram comment section recently (and by cheerful i mean i was cheerful and unserious, while they were practically calling for my head on a pike, telling me to kill myself)… they have far too much time on their hands. purity culture and modern-day attitudes to taboo things like kink and fanfiction has completely gotten away from us. like me personally, i like to think i'm pretty normal, there's certainly a lot of things that people get off to that wouldn't be my cup of tea… but you know what? i just leave them be! i don't force myself into their safe space on the internet to tell them off, compare what they're doing to criminal activity like rape or padeophilia. don't like something, don't engage with it… simple as that.

. . .

oh my god I wish I wasn't so emotional. I really hope my antidepressants make me emotionally numb, I hate crying all the time, especially in arguments. I feel like it makes me look weak and limits my ability to accurately convey what I want to say. Not to mention it looks like I'm subconsciously "accepting defeat" or acknowledging that I've been proven wrong somehow.

. . .

I actually hate that the word "centrist" to describe someone's political orientation has come to mean "politically passive." People make jokes about "the tolerant left" being intolerant and vice versa for more right-leaning people, but really they're both fucking attrocious when it comes to being tolerant. I'm certainly a more progressive-leaning person (also the terms left and right… fuck that… even "liberal" sucks, just say progressive/conservative). It's just my ability to empathise with people prevents me from being judgemental towards those who don't share my beliefs… I can see all sides. That doesn't mean I agree with all sides, or that I don't possess the ability to take sides. I'm not passive - I'm still outspoken. I just don't appreciate how people seem to have lost the ability to agree to disagree. "Well… you can't agree-to-disagree when it's basic fucking empathy/human rights" OH MY GOD DO YOU HEAR HOW INSUFFERABLE YOU SOUND?!?! Some may describe this rant as a "nothing burger," but it's something I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with. I feel like people from my generation place too much emphasis on political beliefs when making and maintaining friendships. I'm very lucky to have found a nice group of fucking NORMAL people who aren't so caught up in this bullshit, but still it's a trend I'm noticing more and more as time goes on. I don't want things to get any worse.
